Financial Records by Country 1980-1988; 1985-1987.

The records consist of correspondence, financial statements, and copies of ledger entries. The files were kept and the bulk created by Virene Luthi, assistant finance officer of the Division for World Mission and Inter-Church Cooperation (DWMIC) of The American Lutheran Church (TALC). Other correspondents whose names appear frequently are Philip A. Jacobson, DWMIC business administrator, and Pat Ose, DWMIC accountant, as well as DWMIC area secretaries James L. Knutson, Jack F. Reents, M. Douglas Swendseid, and John C. Westby. The records are arranged by country, with most countries further divided into church, mission, and special project files. The exact names of the local church body and of the missionary association were added to the file title when easily discernible. A few countries also have files of financial records for individual missionaries. India, Papua New Guinea, and Tanzania have files for the cooperative Lutheran agencies (Inter Church Service Agency, New Guinea Coordinating Committee, and Lutheran Coordination Service) that administered funds for TALC and several other Lutheran church bodies within those countries. There are also files for the Lutheran World Federation, which managed cooperative projects in many countries.
